Presentation "Cultural-Historical Processes in the Lower Dnieper Region (VII-IV Centuries BCE): Analysis of Bearers and Content of Imagery on Prestige Items"
On June 11, 2025, the meeting of the seminar "Ex Oriente lux" was held at the Department of Anthropology of the East. At it, Research Associate of the Center for Archaeological Anthropology Natalia Galaktionova spoke about prestige objects from the Lower Dnieper region.
The presentation examined distinctive decorative elements on Early Iron Age (VII-IV centuries BCE) artifacts, analyzing both their symbolic significance and their role in facilitating sociocultural interactions among ancient populations of the region. Particular emphasis was placed on iconographic analysis as a methodological approach to understanding cultural transmission and identity markers.
The report stimulated discussion among participants, including archaeologists specializing in material culture, historians of ancient societies, and cultural anthropologists.
